Commercial video surveillance and security camera installation

IP camera systems designed around what you need to see: entrances, parking, loading docks and shared areas. Designed, installed and supported by one team.

Four views of a commercial camera system at work: a dome camera above a lobby, an outdoor camera at a building entrance, video analytics at a staff entrance and licence plate reading at a parking gate

What a commercial camera installation covers

A camera system is only as good as its design. We start from the questions the footage has to answer, then choose camera types, lenses, mounting points and recording capacity to match, rather than counting cameras per floor.

We install new IP systems and upgrade older analogue ones, reusing existing cabling where it is sound. Every system is handed over configured, labelled and documented, with remote viewing set up for the people who need it.

Recording can sit on a recorder in your equipment room, on a server or in a cloud service, and the choice changes the cabling, the storage and the recurring costs. We set out the options for your building and say which one we would choose, and why.

  • Design and camera layoutA coverage plan by area, with the camera type and field of view chosen for each position.
  • IP cameras and recordingIndoor and outdoor cameras, network video recorders and storage sized to how long you need to keep footage.
  • Video analyticsDetection of people and vehicles, licence plate reading and fast search, where the project calls for them.
  • Remote viewingSecure access from a computer or a phone for managers and security staff.
  • Upgrades and serviceAnalogue to IP migration, additions to an existing system, adjustments and repairs.

Where commercial camera systems are installed

  • Office and commercial building lobbies
  • Parking garages and vehicle gates
  • Warehouses, yards and loading docks
  • Retail, restaurants and hotels

Typical situations

  • An analogue system has reached the end of its life and the images are too poor to identify anyone
  • A new building or a tenant fit-out needs cameras designed with the cabling and the network
  • A property manager takes over a building and nobody has the recorder's password
  • An incident showed that the area that mattered was not covered, or not recorded
  • Several sites must be viewed from one place by the same security or operations team
  • A parking entrance or a loading dock needs vehicles and licence plates on record

Industries we install it for

A few cameras added to an existing system is a normal job for us. On a larger project the cameras are designed with the access control, the intercom and the network they share.

How a camera project runs

The same sequence for four cameras at a loading dock and for a whole building.

  1. Site visit and objectives

We walk the areas to be covered with you and write down what each view must show: a face at a door, a plate at a gate, the general activity of a yard. We note the lighting, the mounting heights, the cable routes and what is already installed.

  2. Design and quote

You receive a camera plan by area, with the type of camera at each position, the recording and storage, the network and power behind it, and a quote that states what is included and what is reused.

  3. Installation

Cabling is pulled and tested, cameras are mounted, aimed and focused, and the recorder is set up on its own network segment. In an occupied building the work is scheduled around your business hours.

  4. Commissioning and handover

Each view is checked with you by day and, where it matters, after dark. Recording, retention, user accounts and remote viewing are configured, and the people who will use the system are shown how to find and export footage.

What you receive at handover

A camera system proves its worth on the day someone needs footage. The handover file is what lets you get it without calling the installer.

  • Camera plan as installedThe position, name, view and network port of each camera, matching the labels on site.
  • Recording settingsWhat is recorded, at what quality and for how long, as agreed with you.
  • User accountsNamed accounts with the right level of access, and the administrator credentials handed to the owner.
  • InstructionA walk-through of live view, search and export for the people who will use the system.

Questions about commercial camera systems

Can you take over or extend a camera system installed by another company?

Yes. We first look at what is installed, tell you what can be kept and what should be replaced, and quote only the work that is needed.

Do the cameras need their own network?

Cameras usually run on their own segment of the building network. Because we also build networks, we design the cabling, switches and recording together so that video does not slow down everything else.

How long is footage kept?

For as long as you decide, within the storage installed. Retention depends on the number of cameras, the image quality, whether recording is continuous or on motion, and any obligation that applies to your business. We size the storage for the period you set and tell you what it implies.

Can our existing coaxial or network cabling be reused?

Often. Sound network cabling is reused as it is. Existing coaxial cable can sometimes carry newer cameras through adapters, which avoids opening finished ceilings. We test the cable first and tell you which runs are worth keeping.

Who can see the images, and how is access protected?

Only the accounts you authorise. Each user has an individual login and a level of access, the system sits on its own network segment, and remote viewing goes through an encrypted connection rather than an open port. Informing staff and visitors that cameras are in use, and deciding who may view footage, remain the owner's responsibility; we configure the system to match your policy.

We are a general contractor. Can you work from the drawings and to the construction schedule?

Yes. We work from the security and electrical drawings, confirm conduit, back boxes and power at rough-in, install the devices as the finishes allow, and hand over tested systems with as-built documentation for closeout.
